I got the PS-100 and hooked it up to the JMP. It works normal with standby off, but when I put ot in standby, it lets the full volume of the Plexi through and doesn't go into standby? Could something be hooked up wrong? I don't think it should ever work that way. On top of this, I ordered from musicians friend, received this from a local guitar center and had a voice mail left by them telling me they see it arrived and wanted to know if it was working okay. I think I was shipped a dud.

Standby means the PS100 is in Standby and the signal will fully pass through it. So it's working correctly.

Put the amp in Standby if you want to mute the amp.

And RTFM

Oh, shit, that explains it. Lol. It sounds absolutely epic. I assumed it was like a normal tube amp. Now I have to figure out if I can incorporate the SYN1 IICP with it and the GT1000.

I don't know who does it, but I can tell you who should be doing it

If you're use the PS100 a power amp (with a preamp in the Line Input) the Standby works like a normal amp.

If you're using a a reamp/attenuator the Standby bypasses the attenuation and you get the full signal

I have made that mistake. Once.

Had a JCM800 with the master on 6 when I first landed a PS2. Smacked an open D not realizing the PS2 was on standby. A change of shorts later, and I never did that again.

Well, the tones with the GT-1000 fx are absolutely amazing. Now that I know I'm a dumbass I will experiment more tomorrow including trying the Synergy SYN1 to see if I can get it all working together. This was an excellent purchase.

I only came in here to say “yes”, but that was before I read the post. Still, same answer.

The Synergy stuff does sound great with the PS100

Try running the GT1000 with the cabs disabled into the Line Input too. It should also work well.

The PS100 is such a great product, it does so many things well.

Lol

Yeah the standby on the PS is used to bypass the unit

You can use this to A/B the standalone amp tone vs. the tone you have dialed in with the PS if that matters to you

Yeah that's the way I used to do. I'd set up the PS100 for unity gain (no volume difference on/off standby) and tweak the PS tone controls and switches until they both sound exactly the same. Then I'd bring the volume down with the PS. That's the best way to get really transparent results.

The question was rhetorical, Nancy.

It is an amazing addition especially for NMV and making low watt tube amps viable for the stage. I can honestly say my 72 JMP with the PS-100 and the GT1000 for effects is the best sounding rig I have ever used. And sounds amazing all the way from whisper volumes to large venue volumes.

I will never sell my PS100. Anyone that loves big valve amps should own one.

Yeah the Powerstations are probably the coolest "utility" type guitar gear ever made IMO

I'm still using the original model and it's a lifer piece for me

Has anyone tried the IR loader version?

Yeah I had one. It's not a Power Station, just a load box with IRs. No reamp or attenuation.

But as a load, it sounded good. I liked the Suhr load better though.
