lol...so dumb. I should just keep this shit. Anyway, this isn't the PR31 that I had for the last couple years, its the bigger PR30. Which somehow sounds better. I don't know. Probably something to do with the filter on the cover or whatever. I've been using the M201s for a while...this is massively different.

Yeah massive difference!!! A lot more clarity with the PR30.

The 2 mics work really well together.. you have the depth of the 201 and the clarity of the PR30.

the 201 sounds way better to me, the pr is super bright

surprised at how much brighter the pr30 is , but of course mic placement makes all the difference so idk.. But if I had to pick one over the otters the pr30 sounds better.. I like the extra top end scrape and aggression.. Maybe could be tamed a touch but that could easily be done with some post EQ..

Yeah I vastly prefer it. Too bright is fine and a good comment because the m201 hasn’t been giving me that scrape that the Mesa actually has in the room. This is much closer but yeah maybe a touch too bright. But that’s an easy fix. This was place mic and record. I didn’t test anything. Maybe could bring it down a touch in eq. But yeah…this is a much more accurate representation of what I’m hearing.

Yeah I personally don’t think it’s actually too bright but maybe has a few stray frequencies adding a bit of harshness. But other than that it’s right there

I can get the 201 pretty bright too. Maybe needs a more center position but it has a smoother high end. Again not dark, but it’s like it smoothed out some frequencies already. I like the mids and tighter low end of the 201 quite a bit tho. It’s definitely a refined sm57, as I’ve seen some engineers say. But maybe with the Mark it’s not helping as much as say the 5150.

And yeah, keep it! Haha. Unless you are hurting for dough which doesn’t seem to be the case, you’ll always find a use for mics. Ears and tastes change frequently. There’s a reason people call it a “mic locker”, just keep ‘em in the locker until it’s the one for the job!

Yeah the last one got purged when I was selling everything to get the mark VII lol.

Good way to describe the m201. The highs are definitely smoother.
