I was trying out this setup today and it sounds amazing!!





How it works:

Plexi into a David Bray LO-1 box into a dry 2x12 cab. That's the Dry path.

From the LO-1 line out it goes to the rack. G-Major 2 for stereo effects into the Mosvalve 500 power amp into the 1960A set to stereo.


Holy crap, that is a god-like tone It's a LOT of gear to carry to a gig but I am tempted to do it anyway.


I can only imagine how this would sound with 3 4x12s!!

I had a W/D setup for awhile and it was boss.

Technically, it was dry through both, but only one amp had reverb and delay, which helped keep the dry signal sound clearer and more immediate.

I've always wished I could be a Fender guy, just so I could run a pair of Deluxe Reverbs on stage, but the DRRI sound isn't really my thing.

Yeah and it's a great sounding line out. I was using the line out from my Suhr Reactive Load before I got the Bray and the Bray is much clearer. I was shocked to hear the difference. Definitely worth the price!

That's how I ran mine for a few years only I used the line out from my Hot Plate. I split a 412 for the stereo too. It sounded amazing. Later I built a 212 with a center baffle to use for the wet. Having the L & R speakers in their own enclosures improved the stereo effect a lot.

A 212 or 412 center stage dry with separate 112 cabs L & R for the wet is tops.

Yeah I'm thinking about getting a 2nd 2x12 if I decide to use this live. Then set up the 4x12 in the middle for the dry tone with one 2x12 on each side.

My concern about using this type of rig live is that it will depend on the soundguy to get the w/d mux right on the FOH, which is hard when you don't have a soundguy that is familiar with your music.

But man it sounds amazing. So even if it's just for my own enjoyment here that's fine. Live, I probably will have to be more practical

You can go pretty small on the wet cabs (1x12) because you don’t really want them loud enough to compete with the center channel, just loud enough to create the stereo image and they’re going to be mic’d. I’ve experimented with low powered combos, but I’ve never attempted to gig it. Most I’d attempt myself is two amps because it significantly thickens a single guitarist without requiring a lot out of the soundman.

When the Huge Racks Inc forum was still around there was a guy that gigged a Bogner rig that I think was based around a Bogner Ecstasy/4x12 center channel with a small power amp (Mesa 20/20? It’s been awhile and I couldn’t find it with google) into a couple Bogner cubes. He’s probably the one I learned the most from back in the day because he was actually gigging it.
