Wanted to get some feedback on different switchers you guys have used.
Midi would be ideal.

I don't need a bunch of switching things going on, but I have another Maxon AF-9 on the way
that drives me nuts when it is off.

I hear all these things when they are in the signal chain, but some don't bother me much (Boss NS-2 for example).

Boss MS3? Seems a great value compared to an ES-5?

I could make something like the Champion Tap dance work too, never tried one.

I use the GigRig G3 Atom for my home board. It's not cheap, but its the most "pro" piece of gear I own. I probably haven't even used half its capability. I use it for MIDI controlling a few pedals, wet/dry, adjusting pre- and post- gain, reversing the phase of a pedal, switching the order of pedals, and programming scenes where multiple pedals / loops are active. It's completely silent as well. I admit, I occasionally get lost down a rabbit hole of programming shit and forget to play the damn guitar, but once I'm setup, its so nice and easy.

Probably out of where I should budget, but it does seem killer

For Boss I only used the MS-3. It's more of a multi-effects unit than an actual switcher. There are only 3 loops that can be switched. I used it in 4cm with my Marshalls and there was tone suck. Maybe running it all out front would be different, I didn't try to do that. I have not tried their actual ES series switchers, but I heard they are great.

But I recommend you look into the Musicom Lab switchers. I've had several of them over the years and they are great. They can be found for cheap used. The older ones may have more limited functionally (like fixed loop order ) a simpler screen but in terms of sound quality they are all very good.

If the maxon is the only thing giving you problems, just get one boss LS2 or get a true bypass switxher for it.

99% of pedals aound great bypassed. Don’t double your number of cables abd jacks just because of the maxon. I nless you really have some complex switch combinations to perform.

That said, abd LS2 has two loops if you need two chains.
