Nice man!!! I'm still using the Syn1 here. I've considered getting one of the heads. Maybe I still will. The Synergy system is the real deal.

That will get it done! Just sold a Deliverance module, which I regret, and picked up a 6505. The SLO is still my favorite but the 6505 is right there.

Haha, I had all of them here to compare setups... Fun stuff

The 30 is my fave, with the Syn2

That's interesting, why do you like the Syn30 better than the Syn50?

They do all sound really good. I ran them apartment levels and cranked up a ton too.

I have had a 50 before with a 30 at the same time about a year ago and got rid of the 50.
I played the rack setup before too... but never had a chance to A/B/C through them like this.
I am selling the 5050 for a friend, so I borrowed the 50 so I could nerd out.

I am sure it is because it is cathode biased, the 30 sounds richer and more bounce/bloom.
A bit of chewiness in the authority, if that makes sense.
I don't play the broken setting often, clean  ... but it does sound great too.

The 50 does have a tighter thing going on though, and as you get them loud that is nice
too. But it sounds dryer too and crisper.

The 5050 I ran bridge mono 100 watts... Obviously more headroom, though similar to
the 50 tightness-wise.

I guess that’s my main concern on the heads…I’ve heard the power amp is too dark and doesn’t sound very open. id assume the power sections in the amps are basically the same. But what do I know nice never even seen on IRL lol

I never felt they were dark at all. But maybe my taste in tone is dark?

I have had a ton of the modules and played them all, I mainly go for the Friedman HBE and BE for what I do and the heads both sound hot-rodded Marshally with ease. The 50 I guess is a bit more open though. It might have a different transformer if IIRC (already gave it back).

These things really seem like a great option lol.

I had a couple RM50 combo's years ago and they were much darker than the RM100'S I had at the time. Egnater tweaker was dark as well.

Using the Syn-1, with a PS2 or JCM800 power section, has not been dark at all.

I'm thinking about putting the rack back together since I still have all the parts here. Just need an extra module.

Can these modules just be used as a standalone preamp without “plugging em in” to the head unit? I saw a video with that Kohle dude using one and he just ran it theu the power section of a Marshall. I thought these needed to be used within its “system”. But if the preamps Can be used like any old rack preamp. I might buy one to fuck around with

So has the synergy stuff fully replaced the Kemper for you?

No, they need a chassis. Think of this as 500 series preamps but for guitar. You buy a chassis and them populate it with different preamps.

But you can buy the Synergy 1, which is pretty small and affordable and as long as you're using 1 preamp at a time it's fine.

And yes, you can use the power section of any amp for power.

Yup! I still love the Kemper, but this is just is more inspiring to play and finally getting
better recording sounds after trying to dial in IRs for a year or so now... Kemper is gone.

Hmm. That’s what I thought but I swear he just plugged it in. I’ll have to look closer and see if maybe it was plugged into this. I’m guessing it was! But still, it looked just like a bare preamp sitting there

I think he uses a Syn2, rack that holds two modules vs the 1 in the unit that Billy sent, but essentially the same.

Keep an eye out at Sweetwater. I bought my Syn-1 because they were having a special that included a BE module for free. Noticed that they do that from time to time.

Not to be "sales-guy"
But Public service announcement... We (Wildwood Guitars) do have ONE Syn1 left that I can include the free BE module with.

Also, be aware that Synergy does "appear" to do sales through all dealers a couple times a year on the modules.
Not that I know the "exact" date, but it does seem to coincide with a holiday date coming soon.... err, if I remember correctly :thu:

Thank you for the dual heads up! Will be looking for the module sale. Happy with the SLO as my main, 6505 as a close second, and the Vai as a third. Always looking for another to try out. Hence the modular rabbit hole I always go down.

Damn. Another good opportunity to buy one coming up. I feel like I'm always kind of on the fence about buying one of these and I stay on this side. Maybe I will jump over one day.
