Don't have a pic handy, but saw a local band the other night. Guitar player had a kick ass gibson, it was like an offset semihollow flamed top, block inlays, and an Explorer-ish headstock.
Thought maybe it was a midtown but I guess midtowns don't really look like that.
Any guesses? I'm gassing for whatever it is

Was it an Explorer or a Reverse firebird headstock?
Gibson made a few of these:
It think they were Dave Grohl's idea.
It could also be a semi-hollow version of a DC XPL.. there are a few of them out there, although I can only find pics of the regular model

I remember those. They didn't sell well and Gibson ended up blowing them out for about $700. Gibson had a few hollow and semi-hollow guitars in the last 15 years or so that didn't really catch on. The Vegas, the es195, the es-275, the es-139, the es-235, the Kalamazoo and to a lessor extent the Midtown...none of those really caught on and some were pretty interesting guitars.

Damn, those Vegas models are pretty cool. I’d love to try one. I was always curious about the ES-Les Paul’s and the Les Paul Signatures too.

That’s nuts. People are dumb. That guitar ticks a lot of awesome boxes. I guess chances are slim to none they’ll ever come back then

I doubt they will ever make a comeback. I only ever saw one out in the real world and it was from these guys. Check out the first 30 seconds, you might remember this commercial.

Definitely a badass guitar. When haters try and say “Gibson needs to do something different” I guess it’s a good example of something actually cool they tried that obviously failed. Nevermind the robot shit

I’ve never said Gibson should do something different.
