All right GGF! It's been a year to say the least, so let's let off some steam with our time honored tradition.

These are the rules:

Please post pictures of your rig ready to go, wired up, passing signal. Passing signal should be a clear link between instrument and amps for the amp categories (if your boards are in those rigs then signal should pass through those). For the pedal boards we are asking that we can see pedals on (not necessarily all) and cables going into and out of the board. If you have a wireless unit please ensure we can see something plugged into a guitar and the wireless receiver on. If your amp has a standby it can be in the standby position as volume may be an issue depending on where and when you’re taking said pics. As long as I see that the amp is on, we’re good (plus flipping off standby isn’t really a hard thing to do at a gig).

This is not a "gear collection" contest. It's all about the RIG.
Maximum of 2 guitars in the rig picture. For the same reason as above.
Pictures used on previous BOTRs will not be allowed. Please take a new picture for this contest. If you would like to do Rig Rundown videos for your categories those are also encouraged and accepted. Have some fun with this.
You can enter multiple categories if you have different rigs. But only one entry per category is allowed. For example if you have a combo and a 1/2 stack you can enter both categories. If you have 2 half-stacks, pick your best one and enter once in that category. The one exception to this the stereo/WDW/multi amp category.

This year we have a new category: Best Vintage Rig. To qualify, only the head or combo must be from the 1980s or earlier. If you have a vintage guitar to go along with said amp and cab for more authenticity by all means include it. This is open to combos and head/cabs. So as not to double dip the exact same rig in multiple categories, please enter the vintage rig only in the vintage rig category.

We’re also expanding the Butter Dungeon Cateogry from last year to include other members jam spaces/areas.

The post threads will be open Monday May 31st until Monday June 28th 12PM PDT. After that point Billy or I will lock the post threads and create voting polls.
Voting starts on the 29th and goes until Tueaday July 6th 12PM PDT. 7 days should be enough for voting.
The winners of each category will then compete for "Best Overall Rig of 2021" From July 7th to July 14th 12 PDT.

WE HAVE PRIZES!!!

Individual Category Prizes: Winners will receive a set of Slagle Strings 10 - 46s.

Grand Prizes for Overall winners: A grand prize has been offered by our forumite duncan. I’ll be adding a runner up prize as well. Mort has added his Boss Super Chorus to the Runner Up Pool and now Ibenhad has added his BBE Sonic Stomp.

Prizes are a Xotic AC Booster for the grand prize and a Bill Lawrence USA L-500XL, BBE Sonic Stomp or Boss CH-1 Super Chorus for Second, Third and 4th Place (2nd place gets first call, then 3rd, etc).

Contest is open to all GGF members with 10 posts or more.
Creating alts for voting purposes will automatically disqualify you, not to mention you will also get some days off.
Inviting new members to join and vote is not only allowed, it is encouraged! Help spread the word about GGF!

Finally, please keep the post threads for gear pictures only and take all the discussion to this thread. That will keep things easier.

By all means, Mort. If you have something you feel would be better than what I’m offering myself (the Lawrence pickup) let me know and we can put that up instead.

Not instead... in addition to. I was thinking it might be fun to add a prize for 3rd place in a particular category or two. I have some cool old guitar straps, maybe a couple of pedals, etc. Tomorrow I'll nail it down and post it :thu:

Thanks as always, GM. I feel like I could clean up in some of these new categories, but as 2020 overall BOTR winner, I am taking this year off. I'll let the hommies battle it out and see you in 2022.

Consider yourself glove-slapped, GGF.

does the pedal count include utility pedals like aby, tuners, volume etc?

Also, do foot switches for an amp count towards the pedal count?

Yes to the utility pedals. Footswitch no as long as it’s the actual amp’s footswitch or generic 1 or 2 button. Not a switching unit like a GCX or Boss MS or ES series. Those are pedals.

Assuming I get ambitious enough to extract my main rig from the musical abyss that is the back room long enough to get decent pictures, which is a mighty big assumption, where would a rig consisting of a combo on top of another 1x12 cab fit? That's my most used with both speakers live and is really the only thing I count as a 'rig.'

Though I suppose I could toss a bone into the budget realm with my Studio Pro and Agile 8 string with an overdrive, but let's not start by assuming I'm gonna be ambitious enough to pull TWO rigs out of the back room.

I'd still call it a combo, since the main amp is a combo and you're using the combo speaker.

Anyone care if the same pedal board features in two rigs? My combo and stack share that element

Ibenhad has added a BBE Sonic Stomp to the price pool for the final category. So we have the AC Booster at number 1, and 2,3 and 4 get either a Sonic Stomp, Boss CH-1 or L-500XL. Get some more stuff posted guys! Yes I know I haven’t posted yet either. I’m gonna get on it this week I promise!
