The fuck? Was just looking at lawn seats for a show this fall and there’s a lawn chair option/upgrade. Does anyone know how this works? Can people with lawn chairs just sit wherever they want? Are people opting to bring a blanket to sit on gonna get screwed or are there “chair areas”?

Yep pretty much, been that way for awhile for me. Amphitheater by me you can rent the chair the same day and plop down wherever you want on the grass. Hopefully people who have the chairs aren't jerks and sit right in front of you though.

Looked at the venue policy and they encourage people to bring their own or to rent them. They’re supposed to be shorties, no taller than 24” but google images shows plenty of people using full size chairs.

Haven’t been to an amphitheater in years but always enjoyed the blanket/picnic vibe. Oh well, I guess that’s pretty much gone. Shame.

Yeah there's a venue here in Phoenix that has always had a lawn area, you can bring blankets, low lawn chairs and it's first come first serve on the spots. It's nice because the tickets are cheaper and you have room to move around and it's not as hot.
Dead & Co is playing there this fall, but even those tickets are still over $50 each before fees, vs 311 who is playing there the same month and the lawn for them is only 37 with fees.

Gonna make for some great WWF-style chair matches at some of the rowdier shows
