This video brings back so many bad memories. Hours spent pouring over the tab and wondering why absolutely NONE of that shit came close to sounding right.

And then that epiphany moment where the music brain took over and you went, "fuck that, I think it sounds like this!"

Gat damn, whoever did that book should be forced to listen to the entire album on 1/4 speed for the rest of eternity. Motherfucker!

I do have to say I admire this dude being able to even play it the way it was written down. I try that at this point and my entire body goes into spasms over the fail.

I always thought the Dyers Eve riff seemed so impossible as a kid. I chalked it up to the masterful riff machines that were Metallica lol

I caught this vid as well, besides playing the opening of blackened as tabbed, with the weird “x” between the 2nd fret D string, that ending run is the worst tab fail of all time. I had this book in 1989, 11 yo would have given anything to be able to play that opening riff in its entirety. And I was able to simply play the opening staccato by feel, but that ending .... I never managed anything that resembled a RESEMBLANCE of that part. Lol. It is pretty good he actually played the tab consistently and yeah, a horrible display. Just total nonsense.

And the rhythm slashes for much of the songs, since I was fairly young, I didn’t even recogniZe they were there for months! Haha

That's so funny, I bought that one! I also specifically ran into that problem. It wouldnt fit with the timing and the notes were simply off. I remember relistening to the CD track and backing up and play to correct the notes lol...
