mrs mort's father passed away on mother's day

He was working and fell from a scaffold and didn't survive. He was a really cool, simple, hard working ex-marine. 64 years old.

Long time ago he called me up one day (he rarely calls people) and asked if I could meet him at Harbor Freight and help him with something. I get there and he says I need help loading this table saw into your truck. I was like wut? and he says you need a table saw, right? And I'm like damn man, thanks.

Another time about 13 years ago he was about to go in for open heart surgery. We were leaving his room and on the way out I said love ya Dave (we never do that) and he cocked his head to one side, lowered one brow and said that sounds kinda gay. I laughed and said see you tomorrow. He was even keel as fuck. One time he won $35k on a $3 scratcher and when he got home he just handed it to his wife and said "here"

I'll miss that guy. If you wanna pay some respects then pour out a Mt Dew for him and be a little more careful at work, but still work hard.

Great story as a form of respect - you captured his essence I am sure.

He loved anime, welding and dad jokes. Well he may have not "loved" the welding. He always said anyone dumb enough to learn how to weld should have to do it for a living.

Thanks everyone. There are things to be thankful for but also this sucks alot more than when my own Dad died a couple months ago. My Dad wasn't a good dad and I dealt with the loss off him decades ago so when I got the news I was like... oh, shed a tear and was fine from then on.

OK... enough personal shit... thanks for all the condolences.
