Are these any good? I need a laptop and.....

A) Don't want to spend a ton.

B) Would prefer a screen no bigger than 13".

What you say? What else is comparable?

Bunch of sales reps at work had HP rigs provided by the company. They gave them back and all bought their own Surfaces. They love them. Small, reasonably powerful. Works well with all the GoOgLe stuff we have at work.
Thinking of getting one myself.

Have one of these; maxed out the memory and it runs like a champ. I have probs $4k of software on it and it runs it all no problems. It’s my main recording/surfing machine. Not a ton of $ for what it does and it’s a couple of years old now still great.

we have a couple of Surfaces in the office, just the tablets and not the laptops, and they have held up well for the last couple years so I can't imagine the laptop being bad.

I love the Surface Pro line; been using them since the first model. The Surface Book/Laptop is dope too

I still have my original first gen Surface Pro and it still works perfectly to this day. Using a Surface Pro 7 right now for a dumb zoom meeting

Is going with a refurbished unit like this worth considering?

I've bought a lot of tefufbished computers from this vendor, including my current studio computer. Never had an issue with them.

It also has the same processor, more RAM and a bigger SSD hard drive than the Surface or XPS. I have also had good luck with refurbished PC's. So it doesn't bother me.

A couple of years ago I was looking at Dells and I got an inspiron with the fastest processor they had, added a stick of ram myself and its great, cost $720 + extra ram (I waited for a 15% off sale)
I looked at the XPS, it had a slightly faster processor, the case was different but it cost $500 more iirc
