OG title said fuck but I think I remember Billy saying not to curse it titles.
But seriously fuck that guy. I actually really enjoy Tool but his effect on the cost of old Silverburst LPCs absolutely sucks.
A birth year (1984) model came up on my Reverb feed today but its $6.4K and OF COURSE like every single high priced silverburst LPC it specifically says the guy's name in the title.
I swear these things were more affordable in the past (maybe I'm just misremembering).
Specific famous guitarist's tastes cranking up the demand on vintage gear fucking blows.
That is all.

Looks like you won't be prying open your third eye or severing the body from the mind anytime soon. No change coming for your shadow.
To Adam Johns we say, FUUUUUUCK you BUDDY! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK you BUDDY!!!

And the question is, "What's the worst part of the band Tool existing?"

I paid $2k for my LPC in 2014. At the time I felt that maybe I should have waited for a better deal. Looking at prices now, not so much.

Boy, I’m glad my favorite guitarist is Larry Lalonde, that he primarily uses Strats, and that my birth year - 1985 - is not a year in which Strats were built consistently well. He is partially responsible for jacking the price of PRS’ up in the 90s, though.

Back in the day I put A LOT of hours in on their first few releases. A not small portion of those hours under the influence of LSD so I’ve got love for their music still but this shit sucks.

I would love a birth year guitar myself but the last time I checked, 1961 models were a little too pricy.
But yeah, those silverburst prices are ridiculous.

It’s only that way now because they finally released an album last year. They’ll go down again soon I imagine.

Yeah, fuck that guy!

My birthyear guitars are Norlin Gibsons and 3 bolt Fenders. Not even remotely interested. You'd be amazed at the random shit that comes up on my "1976" Reverb.com search though.

Not much different for me with 1973. Though there's a few teles that catch my eye, I'd rather have modern appointments than a 3-4 thousand dollar bill and a headache.

Just buy a 1984 LP of your choice and have it refinished; it'd prolly still be way cheaper

Probably.
Honestly I’ve been watching for a deal on a silverburst LPC for ages now and had planned to go with a new one since I don’t like how the old ones yellow. Had considered snagging a birth year black beauty LPC at some point for myself but seeing those two overlap on this one just annoyed me to I’m complaining to the only people who might share in this petty first world pain. ::lol:

This is a serious life issue. It is okay to be upset.

This is a great idea Dev. You could even get a studio and get it all dolled up.

The closest I've gotten to a birth year guitar is my 1978 LP but it's still off by a few years. But 1974 LPs are pan can body so DNW.
I honestly never understood the appeal of silverbursts tbh. I like solid colors on LPCs, bursts work better with Standards IMHO.

Same lol. It might be my least favorite finish honestly

I've always found that 1984 Customs are fairly hard to find since it was a transition year from Kalamazoo to Nashville. I have always liked the silverburst ones, but every time I think of one, I'd eather have the Flying V custom and a LP Goldtop, lol.

I think was a commonly held opinion for a long time.
First time I saw a new silverburst LPC in person was like 15 years ago, I fell in love and have wanted one ever since.

No doubt about it.
I’d take a white one too.

Fact is everything is high in price right now. Bicycles, music gear, dirt bikes, lumber.
Give it time.

I didn't want a black one. I was shopping for a white one. But there was nothing available in my price range. This one popped up and I decided to grab it. From the moment I opened the case I knew I made a better choice.

I like silverburst... but probably because of Adam Jones
