About six times a week I get a call with various voices saying, "We have been trying to reach you concerning the vehicle's extended warranty." Yeah, right, whatever.

So, a couple days ago I get a card in the mail that looks exactly like the shit I get from the dealer where I bought my car, including a picture of my car (like a profile pic), a couple statements about vehicle service, and telling us to immediately call since they have no record of our vehicle being serviced recently and our warranty is going to expire if we don't get the vehicle serviced. Of course, strongly suggesting I have to have it serviced at the dealer, leading me to believe it's legit because they ALWAYS hard sell service at the dealer.

Well, I get all my vehicle maintenance done at a locally owned place because they're the only place I've ever taken a vehicle that has legit talked me out of unnecessary maintenance when I thought it was needed AND they've taken excellent care of my shit over the years. So I'm locked and loaded and ready to rip a phone agent apart on the grounds that I can point them to my mechanic and they can shove their service department up their ass sideways with their constant part replacement policies and bullshit shitwork "mechanics" that would make my grandpa (the kind one) want to beat 'em with a crescent wrench.

So I call 'em and they say this isn't about the service record at all but about "re-upping coverage."

I have coverage for at least another year or two, but I listen to the pitch and almost crack up laughing.

Just $450 today and then $360 every month to continue coverage. Well, shit, that's only about twice as much as the payment for the loan. What a fuckin' bargin!

So, she ended up having a not so fun end of the call when I calmly explained to her that I'm not paying for the vehicle a second, especially considering all the money I've wasted on warranties that never pay for anything you need anyway over the years. "Well, we will never be able to offer you this coverage again in the future, so you have to say yes now or you won't be covered."

I wonder how many suckers they get with that shit? I mean, they clearly knew what vehicle I had. A bluebook search would show them the money they were asking for would literally buy me another copy of the car in the same condition, AND cover the extended warranty on that copy. Actually, my car payment which covers both the car and the current warranty (which is far from expired) is well under half what they were asking for. Fuckin' retards.

There is a hilarious YT channel where it's basically the scammers getting scammed. Centering on the "your PC is infected; please allow us to connect remotely to provide support" scenarios. There are some absolutely ripping videos where the scammers get absolutely SLAUGHTERED and it is a true joy to watch.

I lead them on and on and then I tell them I need warranty insurance for my moped

I love those. It's hilarious when the scammers finally realize all their vital files are poofed.

Somehow the warranty calls for me have stopped.... what started up in its place was spanish only speaker calls to sign up for obama care. The second you have an english accent or struggle with a bit of spanish they just hang up on you. I try to talk to them in my limited spanish... but i guess they can asily tell its not my native language and they hand up. i get about 10 cals a day from random numbers for the same thing.

I get at least one call a day from extended warranty, school training, air duct cleaning and solar power companies. I don't know who is selling my number, but I'd like to call them in the middle of dinner with their family or a meeting with their boss.

I just don't answer numbers I don't know - if they want to leave a message, I'll get back to them if it's important - or delete their ass if they are not.
Don't know what the problem is with your phone going off then you are busy - you are not a slave to it - take back your life.

I've been getting scam email that looks exactly like PayPal and Amazon email.
They want me to click on a link to update my account info or my account will be closed.
Of course, I never click on anything and I delete the fake emails immediately.
When I login at the real website, to double check, there are no alerts waiting for me.

yeah - and I love the 'spoof' phone calls that have the same first 6 digits as my number!

I never answer any calls unless I recognize the caller... FTW!!!
With the email scams, when you hover over the link with the cursor, you can see that the IP address is not PayPal or Amazon.
INTERPOL should have an eScam unit... too bad their underfunded.

ive been thinking about writing an app that would block phone calls from your area code and exchange unless they are in your contacts.

My Galaxy 10e says, "Possible Scam" with some calls... which is cool but, an app would be cooler.
Not sure if blocking by area code would work for me. I have friends who call from out-of-town and some who moved to my area code but still use their old area code. Also, I sometimes do business with people out of my area code.

yeah - my Pixel 2 does that also - I suspect it is part of the network - Verizon here - who do you use?
and if it comes up SUSPECTED SPAM CALLER - there is 0% chance I am answering it.

I use Sprint... I guess all the networks have that now?

That sounds cool....sadly, no, it is far less exciting what I do. I am in charge of all the back-end gaming, networking, a/v, storage and recording equipment for a casino. This includes access control and currently body temperature scanning. We are open 24/7 on weekends and holidays. There are only two of us allowed in the mdf and the other is my boss who is not on call 24/7.

When it’s pretty obvious that a number is a spammer I’ve been answering “hey there spam risk how have you been?”.

They just hang up
