The opening was great and the changing names bit was awesome. The "musical guest" was terrible. Which is pretty much par for the SNL course at this point

I watch SNL every week because: wife, old, not allowed out.
It's mostly meh but, when they have a good guest host, like Chris Rock, Will Ferrel or, John Mulaney it can be really funny.
Justin Timberlake and Harry Styles are always good.
Bill Burr was insane!!!
Really dug Jack White's drummer and that first song they played was excellent.

One of the weirdest drumkit setups I've ever seen in that vid

^Right? Seems like it would be a pita to have to stand up every time you need to hit the floor tom. My old ass is also like "that's gotta be bad for his back".

I loved the JW performances. Off the cuff, raw, and vibing hard off each other. At first I thought the lyrics about the pandemic were a little cheesy, but come to find out that was actually a Blind Willie Johnson song about the 1918 pandemic called Jesus Comin Soon. And this being segued from one of my favorite JW tunes in Ball and Biscuit, which segued out of a tune he wrote for Beyonce called Don't Hurt Yourself. Mind blown. The second tune, that he played on the Wolfgang is called Lazaretto, which is a name for an isolation hospital for people with infectious diseases. Mind blown again. The dude is definitely into presenting an entire package every time he performs, and even when I am not a huge fan of the execution (i.e White Stripes) I respect the vision.

yeah it's maybe he was a Street performer and Jack discovered him , he was sure happy to be there . I love seeing musicians into it and not just attitude without substance .

Apparently, he's a fairly well known and in-demand studio / session drummer. Even has a signature line of drums with all those funky angles built in.

F@ckin drummers man...
