Its probably the most overwrought terrible thing I've heard in who knows how long.

Formula for the perfect storm of fail:
1. Release a decent, though somewhat outside your own wheelhouse cover.
2. Have the masses praise you for it.
3. Have the original writer publicly say “good job.”
4. Not realize he’s both polite and increasing his potential residuals.
5. Swell your head for a few years.
6. Think you can do it with any other vocalists song.
7. Studio time.
8. FAIL.
Seriously, you know damn good and well if Sound of Silence didn’t get so much acclaim they’d have never tried this ridiculous shit. I used to enjoy their covers as different takes on tunes I knew. But apparently going full pretentious is more important than making cool music at this point.
What’s really infuriating is how much praise I’m seeing for this festering garbage elsewhere, so they’ll probably just keep doing it. Prepare for the full douche cover album filled with Celine Dion, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie and Frank Sinatra covers.

I can hear them butchering Hello as we speak. Only removing the best thing about the song (that guitar solo) and replacing it with some early 00's keyboard playing a string section riff over a 1/4 syncopated chug riff. Ugh doesn't begin to describe it.
I am all about fun covers and bands doing their takes on it. But you know Draiman has by now got to be the most pretentious, chin pierced over serious idiot you could ever imagine. In their defense; I don't like this song at all. As far as post Police Sting stuff goes. So it's a double nope for me.

Too fun

I can imagine them doing Nothing's Gonna Stop Us in a minor key though

This would fit them better, as did Shout, Land of Confusion, and even, to some extent, the way they did Still Haven't Found. If they were as douched up then as they are now that would have been absolutely horrendous, as I think that song is bad to begin with. They actually made it almost tolerable by NOT trying to be all emotional with it.
We Built This City would just be pure fun.

They did U2? Oh. My. God. I am surprised the music universe didn't explode from the overdose of bloated self-seriousness. Jesus indeed.

Holy shit... I knew they did Land of Confusion and Sound of Silence but I didn't know they did all those other covers as well..... not gonna lie Land of Confusion wasn't terrible but I really found the Sound of Silence cover was utter shit.... this Sting cover is garbage.... so I'm not even going to look those up lol

God what trash.
I regret the 30 seconds I spent giving it a chance.
Most bands of that era have fallen off the map, why the fuck do these clowns get to stick around doing this nonsense.

You didn't even make it to where it gets REALLY bad.

This may be worse than that atrocious cover of "Simple Man" by that super sucky band that I have no recollection of.

You guys are hilarious. This thread feels like a trailer for Grumpy Old Men 3.

Maybe it's observation bias from reading the thread before watching... but I expected way worse. This is FAR from the worst "post nu-metal" band cover out there. The first 2 1/2 minutes are actually pretty sick movie trailer music IMO. I don't love it. I don't hate it. I almost actually like it.
I mean, it's not like it's FFDPs Bad Company cover.
Also, Ten Summoners Tales is in my top 10 favorite records of all time.

Dominic Miller is a KILLER guitar player. I saw this tour in Red Rocks back in the day. Great show.

I don't, yet still find this pretty shit.
I own the first five albums, some of their non-album stuff, and went to see them five times, so I can hardly be called a hater. But I enjoyed some, and as they get deeper I enjoy it less. Maybe have just been the time being what it was that I enjoyed them as they were coming up, and now they're kinda meh to me.

I was down with the sickness without being down with the sickness. I honestly don't know how many albums they have as they sort of blipped on my radar and fell off for whatever reason. I like some sh!t others might consider gross; so it's not that
I think I would have rather heard a dirgey take on Fields of Gold instead

Oppositeville, population: Me.

I've never felt the urge to buy a Disturbed record or Pay for a Disturbed ticket. oof. To each their own, I guess? I'd always assumed the people who kept that band in business were the same people who casually reference Nietzche around their lip piercings when they want mom and dad to see how much smarter they are.

Maybe that's why I was surprised by how much I didn't dislike this cover.

I love the original version of this song so I'm not going to listen to the Disturbed version.
That being said, 10000 Fists? Killer riffage all over the place and the vocals are relentless from beginning to end. Most bands from that era had checked out by that point in their career, but 10000 Fists was first album intense.

Just listened to this song on your recommendation. Plenty of room to loudly yell wakka-wakka-kakka in my office
