The lowest form of life

This insurance company has been charging my mom for insurance on a house she sold 16 years ago. We had notified them at the time and they just ignored it and kept charging it yearly. My mom is 80 years old and never noticed it until I caught it now.
Now they're asking for "proof of notification" from 2004. The insurance agency that sold this policy is the same one that holds the policy on her current house so there's no way they didn't fucking know. My mother is forgetful because of her old age and they just flat out ripped her off. Almost 20k taken from an 80 years old lady living on retirement income.

I am going to fucking kill someone.

I doubt we'll find it but it shouldn't matter. The company has to notify the customer and make sure the details of the policy are the same upon renewal. They renewed this shit 16 times without any verification or notification. I am beyond angry with this company.
My dad owns a law firm so we can make it rain fire on them with zero legal costs if we have to.

This really ruined my holiday already. Fucking scum.

God damn that's beyond fucked up Billy.....there must be a way to get back the money.... maybe even a little something extra.....

does make you wonder though, how much of this is just them not giving a fuck and not doing their due diligence OR some sales rep that needs to make his quota...

I can see that for one year or 2.. But they renewed this shit 16 times

And they've been communicating with her about her policy on her current home and conveniently never mentioned this one and just kept sending mail about it to the old address ... while sending mail about the current policy to the right address...at the same time!!!

This is deliberate. Fuck this company.

What company is it?
How did you submit the cancellation? Mail? Phone call?
Did you verify it was canceled?
Are you sure they weren’t sending out renewal notices?

I hope you have a copy of that cancellation. You may be in a tough spot.

I’m not saying the company is in the right, but they don’t keep track of how many houses you own.

I hope this works out alright. It’s a crummy situation. As an insurance agent(I don’t do home stuff, fwiw), it’s my worst nightmare if a client overpays for a month, let alone 20 years. Did she have an agent??

She does have an agent. Which by the way is the same for her current policy. They all fucking know.

They were notified by certified mail. I'm sure of it. I just don't know how to prove it but we'll figure it out. Hopefully the post office have records of certified mail this old.

It's GEICO.

This is 100% going to litigation if they don't pay. We may not win but it will cost them over 20k to defend it. It's free on my end so I will exhaust all appeals and shit..

Ahh, same agent. Yep, he’s looking at an e&o claim. He should have known she sold the house. He’s in trouble.

Did the cancellation go through the agent, or direct to geico?

That is terrible! Of course now they act like they never knew... sorry to hear that, hope she gets her money back!

We called the agent and sent GEICO a certified letter.

I will sue this guy personally. That's if I just don't go to his office and beat the shit out of him myself, which Kimmi already had to talk me out of doing today.

She convinced me to go to DC to see family and calm down lol which I'm doing now. Called my dad and he's going to get things going tomorrow.

This made physically ill from being angry earlier. I can't believe someone would do this to an 80 y.o. lady.

There is nothing more upsetting than people taking advantage of people like this, that is except when it’s your family in which case it’s even more upsetting.

Good luck man, hope you get shot settled.

We’re going through a bunch of shit because of a car accident my wife got into a couple months ago.

Our lawyer told us when it comes to insurance companies, “The more commercials they have on TV, the shittier they are”. Lol.

Last tim we watched TV, geico sure does have a lot of commercials.

Jesus fucked up Christ on a cracker. I'd be so mad I'd be breaking half the shit in the house if I heard this happened to my mom.

Insurance agents are the scum of the fucking earth. They rank right down there with bank management. And I say this as someone with a mom currently married to an insurance agent. Ain't a single person other than mom that's met him that doesn't want to split his fucking skull open, and we're not even his clients.

One of my dad's firm partners is calling the insurance agent right now. She has 30 years of personal injury and property damage experience and pretty much dealt with insurance all her life. So she's going to light them up.

Last night we found an old letter from this insurance agency congratulating my mom on the sale of her house and on her new home purchase, offering her a new policy

I'm in DC now because this insurance agency is in NJ, just a 90 minutes drive from my house in PA, a drive that I almost made yesterday.
Kimmi talked me into coming here because she was worried I was going to drive down there and break shit

Fuck this people.
