Terminating a car lease early

I've leased Nissian cars from our local dealer for years. 13 months ago I leased my wife's new Nissian. In the mail today I get this message that since May 2, 2013 my local dealer will not sell or service Nissian cars anymore

On the message Nissian tells me of the dealers I can go to for service and warranty work. Closest one is a 150 mile round trip

Anyone ever terminated a car lease early?

I'd talk to a lawyer about it. Maybe the fact they are discontinuing service and support for the vehicle they leased you and there is no other dealer close by may give you some leeway when returning the car.
I am not sure, but it's worth looking at. Because any other possible scenario will suck for you. I'd think that if you can't return without huge penalties your best option is actually drive the 150 miles round trip when you need service.

Hopefully nothing catastrophic happens that would force him to have to get it towed 150 miles

Ugh, that sucks dude. I'll try to remember and ask at work tomorrow what Ford's protocol with that would be, but I can make no promises as I'm in the fixed ops building and the slime, er sales are across the street. I might forget.

Billy's suggestion is the best, talk to a lawyer, and hell, does the dealer still exist, just sells other cars? I'd go talk to them about it. I'd be prepared to get a line of BS and "oh we can't do anything." but if you've been a customer for years, they might be able to help. Also, if they aren't being helpful, you can always casually mention, "Well, maybe I'll just have a chat with a lawyer to see if I have any recourse." Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't.
Mojo dude.

Meh, I think you are locked in. Leases are usually between you and the manufacturer or the manufacturer's financial entity....not between you and the dealer. Pull out your contract and see what the penalty is for early release, if it is even an option. You can also try Nissan's main HQ and see what they say.
Also, you don't have to go to the dealer for service...or even warranty service. At least that's how it is in my state (and most states I believe.) You can get your car serviced wherever you want.

I believe this to be true as well but it certainly can't hurt to check.

I'm pretty sure there would be an early termination clause in the lease agreement, whether you're going to like the terms of it is another story however like Billy said, you MAY have some leeway but that may come down to the dealer and you working something out etc.

Service? It's a lease, who cares

Seriously though, it's worth seeing what you can do. Worst case is they can't do much for you

How often does it need service?
Is your lease assignable? Someone may be able to assume the remaining portion of the lease?

This ^^^^
and if you do have to - I'd say you have grounds for early termination with no penalty.

I found this out last night. I can have it serviced for oil and tire rotation at Walmart. Be sure and keep the paperwork
