Wow. Way too young.

So sad to hear his daughter was with him and other perished, Kobe was a absolute assassin on the floor who worked his ass off and didnt just wait on his natural gifts and talent, I think he spoke 3-4 languages as well, just a bright future in front of him and a young guy. Terrible news for the family, RIP to the black mamba

A buddy of mine went to the NFL, no one famous, but he was able to retire at the end. If you've never hung out with a professional athlete, you would be amazed at the amount of tail thrown at those guys, and don't even get me started on the level of crazy in these bitches. They are looking for a fairy tale, and if that doesn't work out they'll settle for a payday. Take that and multiply it times 1000 for the GOAT...

I get your point about the world pro athletes live in, but, unlike his wife, I don't really have A REASON to 'get past it'. It's not like I'm holding a grudge against him, I just was never on the Kobe bandwagon to begin with - always thought of him as self centered and egotistical.

Same here. No thanks, no copter rides for me unless its a medical emergency to get my about-to-die ass to a hospital. I was listening to Howard Stern this morning and he was telling how he used to use helicopters a few years ago but would only ride if there were two pilots on board, just in case of a heart attack or some other medical emergency. If I had the dough I would probably want the same thing.

RIP Kobe. That was quite a life he led, so sad he won't get the chance to grow old and reflect back on what I'm sure was a great time.

Yeah I wouldn't;t say I was a fan of the guy but it is definitely sad. Him and his daughter as well as a team mate of hers and parents? Just awful.

She "got passed it" when shortly after the whole story broke, he bought her a piece of very expensive jewelry. I remember reading news stories about it, although I can't remember exactly how much it cost. I'm sure that clipless bumper would have gotten over it if Kobe bought him some expensive jewelry too.

For the record, while people around him admit that he was self centered earlier in his life, but that apparently the last few years he had really turned the corner and became a much better father, husband, person, etc. It is always tragic when someone dies in an accident, well before their time, and this is made worse by the fact that his 13 year old daughter died in the crash as well. Condolences to his wife and remaining three children, their lives will never be the same.

You'd think with all the money he had, he'd have a helicopter with one. It's not like he couldn't afford the newest and best technology and had to cut corners.

Apparently there was a push years ago to make them mandatory, but the FAA shot it down.
