Watched the first four episodes with dad and totally enjoyed it. I know that there is some myth and mystique involved in the story telling. But that's fine by me. It's also a cool history lesson in where Rock&Roll came from.
Anyone else watching?
I am also not ashamed to admit that Patsy Cline cuts right through my soul

I watched part of an episode the other night that featured Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and a few others. Some of that old country music has more of a rock vibe than I remember.

So was Kris Kristofferson! I was amazed to learn how many of his songs I recognized.
And the songs Shel Silverstein wrote had my wife an I laughing our heads off!
"It's hard to kiss the lips at night that chewed your ass all day."
"You're the reason our kids are ugly."

I grew up hearing all of the old country songs. It's a huge part of what my parents listened to. For me, I love hearing the stories.
As for Shel, I had no idea he was one of the outlaws. Or Kris for that matter.

That reminds me of how I used to fuck around with country lyrics as a kid to irritate my parents or anyone else in earshot.
Two songs that come to mind are from Jim Reeves and Juice Newton. For Jim's
Put Your Sweet Lips a Little Closer to the Phone I would sing: Put your sweet lips a little closer to my ass.
For Juice's
Playing with the Queen of Hearts I would sing: Playing with the queen of farts.
Damn I was hilarious back then.
