it's going to be impossible for them to live up to the hype and expectations after that many years, even if the music was awesome.

I don't anticipate much with this album and this song affirms my instinct. It's not terrible but there's zero evolution. Every single move in that song was something Tool has given us, several times over.

We've been waiting for this?
Well, we'll see.
I was hoping though for some kind of newness from Adam and the rest...oh well.

Definitely a bit derivative in parts (Right in Two and Pushit come to mind for me). I discovered Opiate right before I saw them at ‘93 Lollapalooza so they were pretty influential in my 20s and 30s, but at 45 years old it doesn’t quite carry the weight that it used to. Still anxious to hear/have the full album context and experience, but I’m cautiously optimistic...

I saw them at lollapalooza 93 in Atlanta. Although I had only heard undertow at that point. They were the reason I went. First time I heard/heard of rage against the machine.

yea... it's not really blowing my balls off. they aren't really evolving like people were expecting.
there are some cool textures guitar wise and the vocals and production were good...although the drums sounded muffled to me.
10,000 days packaging was awesome with the included stereoscopic glasses and art.
so i'll prob pick this one up for that reason alone (assuming they'll include some cool shit)
it sounds like music you are supposed to be trippin on shrooms to - to get the full effect.

The more I listen to it, the better it gets.
I’m full-blown excited for the album now

I agree. It's grown on me a little, more than I expected it to.

I agree ^ I think I fell prey to the hype -as sleewell stated above.
on smaller speakers and earbuds it's kind of a 'wash of sound' in a way... so much going on.
on my full range home stereo, everything has room and you can hear more detail and clarity in the mix.
I'm looking forward to listening to the album in full.

45 seconds in, thought it was lame.
End of song, nothing changed. I'm not pissed as I didn't buy this, but damn.
NOPE
