Hollywood and the larger media companies have nothing to offer. I don't know if they ever really did, but I realize more and more what a total waste of time watching tv and movies is. All I see are the same everything redone over and over and over again, now with 500% more socio-political agenda.

I force myself to sit in front of the idiot box to watch movies with my family, but if it's not "family time" I can't be bothered with it. I could be starring at a wall and will feel like I'm making better use of my time. I'm getting old.

Summary: Fuck your current favorite tv show and movie.

there are a few ok things to watch , they have all been listed in the " what shows do you watch " here on GGF so skim through that but I doubt many are for children to view. I hear ya though but these things are nice to kill some time so don't look to hard for inspiration or anything that makes sense in the real world .

I gave up on TV when Coy and Vance replaced Bo and Luke. I heard Bo and Luke eventually came back but by that time it was too late and I had moved on.

Also, Games of Throne sucks a huge rod. I've never seen it and want the world to know it.

I'd agree that there is no shortage of shit on TV. What pisses me off most, however, is that quality shows generally don't have a chance. God forbid that you actually have to pay attention or apply even a base level of critical thinking. It's increasingly hard for me to invest in a show, regardless of how good it might be, because it will invariably be cancelled in favor of season 23 of "Real Housewives of the Trailer Park". Pisses me right the F@#$ off...

Did you guys watch MASH, All In The Family, The Jefferson's or any other sitcom from whenever? There has always been socio-political bullshit going on. Stop acting like it's a new phenomenon.

That really sealed the deal for me. Loved that show, last two seasons were garbage, and I just can't see myself investing the hours of life required to follow a television show anymore. That was my last hoorah.

BBC World News and Rick & Morty... only things worth watching.... and sometimes, NOVA.

MASH was gross. All in the Family as well. Jeffersons were always awesome. They actually did a remake of both of them a few weeks back where they shot each of their first episodes with a modern cast Jeffersons was alright but All in the Family was particularly awkward and painful.

It's not that I mind real world issues and varied viewpoints being brought into the story; I just am bugged when it is a situation where there is clearly something being pushed that has no business in the story line. Square peg, round holes and all that. Sure; have a character of whatever variation. But please make it make sense with the story and not just be adding something for the sake of adding something.

All In The Family wouldn't even be broadcast these days. No chance.

God no! Woody Harrelson played Archie and his dialog was just awkward as h#ll when put into 2019 perspective. Marisa Tomei played Edith. Which was actually a perfect casting choice despite what you might think.

Few weeks back. Jimmy Kimmel produced it or something as a tribute to Norman Lear? Cast we decent overall. We watched in on Hulu. I wouldn't recommend it but if you already have a Hulu subscription (I am betting you probably don't ) and have some sort of morbid curiosity
