Sadly, there is no full recovery from this. I have spent over three decades doing this stuff using some of the nastiest most dangerous tools on earth, save from an industrial wood chipper with no safety guards on it, then, due to a machine malfunction, pow...

Nah. The leukemia is joke. Is it trying to kill me? Yeah. Almost did a few times, yep. But it's funny as hell.

Well, only part it. Machine malfunction. Happened, literally, faster than a lightning strike. Bled like crazy. Hurt like, un freekin believable.
My partner called 911 after me begging him not to. Just take me to the ER dude. Paramedics arrive, It was fucking bedlam. They take me to the hospital ER. Then I was transferred to another hospital, so, another ambulance ride.
I was supposed to be admitted at the second hospital, but ended up not being admitted. It was pretty much like, "Here's a bandage and some aspirin. Have a nice day". So, I was 45 miles or so from home, with no way to get there, and no one I could call. I ended up having to call for a ride home. $120.00 plus tip. So much for paying the water bill
My dad had to take a ride in an ambulance when he was having a stroke. Cost like $24k. And it was less than five miles.
I took two in one night. I can't wait to see the bills for that. Should at least be amusing.

On my everyday job I’ve seen two guys get caught up In a table saw. One just recently. 22 yo kid. He worked mainly with some other dudes, but the few times I worked with him I gave him the same advice/warnings my first boss told me when I was 19. “Treat them like poison. Never let your guard down.” Maybe a little corny but I did, and still do, always be on my best mindset even tho at times we all get careless. Few close calls for sure.
Anyway, I specifically warned this kid about a certain cut we do at times and said come get me or the other dudes until you really know what can happen. He didn’t and the exact thing I warned him about happened.
Hopefully yours is mostly flesh and can relatively heal. This kid lost a good part of his finger and his palm is fucked too. And yeah, hands/fingers bleed like a mutha

My pop lost the tip of his finger to a router table router. He had finished his cut and was moving his hand from one side of the table to the other to shut off the router and tapped his index finger on the bit.
I try and keep that story in mind whenever I use power tools.

Yeah , like many I don’t use the guard for the router table. Some close calls for sure. That’s why I wonder if it was the router cause the outside of my pinky almost met a router bit on a few occasions. If that bit binds up and yer hand is near when it kicks, I have had my heart start pounding for sure after I just missed getting caught.
