Chris Stapleton is really good

I'm pretty much a country noob, but my wife is way into it, grew up listening to it, so I've been trying to broaden my palette. Saw Zac Brown Band and Garth Brooks with her the last couple years and really enjoyed those shows. I don't recognize a ton of songs, but that's cool, I always have a good time, and the wife digs it way more than when I drag her out to see my favorite bands, lol.
Anyway, last night I took her to see Chris Stapleton. Just got some lawn seats, beautiful night out. I first heard of him when he and Justin Timberlake did a tune at the CMAs, was instantly impressed with his pipes. My guitar instructor had me learn Tennessee Whiskey last year and that pretty much hooked me. I knew that and maybe three other songs they did out of the whole set, but it was a great show. Couldn't really see his rig, but he had some killer gear. Dude played like 5 different Jazzmasters and an Esquire, tone sounded great. It wasn't typical country twang, but a really greasy and ballsy tone. Pretty staightforward tunes, rocked the F out. While the tunes definitely have a country feel, they also sorta transcend the genre. Some songs lean way more toward stoner rock or blues jams. Dude is also super funny when he engages the crowd, the band introduction was priceless.
If the tour is coming to your town, I highly recommend you go. Even and especially if you aren't a country fan like myself. If nothing else, the scenery is off the charts...
Like I said, we sat up in the lawn so the pics I took were pretty crappy. So here's a shot from my bike ride yesterday instead, lol.
