I know there's some photo guys here... thought I'd throw this out there to see if there's some common interest / expertise in what I'm doing
A couple of years ago, I gathered up all the photos my parents have, along with everything that my wife and I had - these are the physical (older) photos from our film cameras, before we went to digital back in 2003.
After spending a month (evenings, parts of weekends, etc.) sorting the over 10,000 pictures into about 300 logical groups, I took them to a local scanning service and came away with 5 DVDs full of images. Right now, I'm developing a workflow to tag / sort them into a way that I can then import into my photo management software and be able to view them on a timeline or by different tags that I am creating.
I've amassed over 90,000 digital photos into a very well organized folder structure that lets us quickly find any photo by date, event, etc., and am looking to pull the scanned collection into my bigger one - the thing is, the number of scanned images I am going through is daunting - it's not like sorting piles of pics on the floor when working digitally - so it's going to be a very lengthy process.
Any of you going through (or have gone through) a similar process?
