So basically I want to play in a band so badly that I'll play pretty much anything. I know a drummer and bass player who are interested in playing alt rock. I know shit about alt rock so this thread is for you guys to share your favorite alt rock artists/songs/etc. I know its a pretty wide genre, so go nuts.

wow... to me Alt Rock is such a broad span of music that can go from bands like REM, Pixies to Live, STP and I'll even still class some "indie" bands like Kings of Leon to be Alt Rock....
good place to start.. go to
www.live365.com and go to the Alternative station and stream GEN X Radio...they play lots of 90s Alt Rock and it's free

Don't try to be like anyone else. Worst thing you can do is try to imitate someone else, you will always be one step behind.
Be yourself, mesh your style w theirs and see what happens. If it doesn't work that's fine but at least you were you.

thanks guys. Bill, I totally agree. I definitely won't lose my blues/rock sensibilities. Just trying to get an idea of where these guys are coming from.
