I remember hearing Steve Morse as a teen, for the 1st time in the Dregs before I was playing, & thinking it was amazing. No real Genres or anything, other than rock; & I remember expecting girlfreinds who heard it to see the light. LOL.

Funny thing is, nobody really did, till my guitar teacher, who said this was his favorite guitar player due to this & that & his alternate picking technique..... Well, fuck that... I wasnt really gonna put in the effort! LOL But you can hear Morses distinct style, its solid as a rock! Anyhow, give this a listen.

As I listen now, I understand why Matt thought it was great & why it wasnt something my girls got into!

Albert Lee was the very first, by a few months.

Morse is one guy I have known about for what seems like forever but never actually listened to as far as I know.

Well, he's a heck of a player... Hes in Deep Purple these days, & I was actually surprised that their newer stuff wasnt just fodder, but it was pretty damn good!

Heres something to check out...

Same here. Just put on Dixie Dregs as a Pandora channel at work.
I'm digging it. It's Steely Dan on roids.

I saw him give a clinic about 30 years ago. When he finished demoing this technique, all you could hear was the muttered profanity of awe and the sound of jaws hitting the floor.

Yeah.. Dregs took Fusion & added Bluegrass & Shred to it.
I kinda think Morse was one of those guys ahead of his time.
