Never heard a note from any of these bands. I could probably name another 50 bands that have some serious popularity whose music I have never heard.
Anyone else in this boat?

These Whigs tunes hit me back in the day:

This Bob Mould tune always tripped my trigger. Never listened to Husker Du (which he was guitarist vox I believe):

Flaming Lips are too much performance art/weirdo for my taste. No; I'm not bringing 4 boom boxes and playing individual cassettes simultaneously to recreate your masterpiece of wtf-ever :freak:

I'm definitely down with some Whigs. I like Husker Du a bit. Used to be a big fan, but kinda got burned out on them.

That sounds par for the course. I only remember them being pretentious and sounding like mouldy ass.

I wanted to hate the flaming lips. I wanted to hate them so badly.

Then, I saw Wayne Coyne dressed up like Slim Goodbody playing a crash cymbal with mallet, singing Lucy in the SKy with Diamonds with Miley Cyrus.

I thought, "hey that's kinda cool". So, I bought a cymbal and a mallet. I now have a drumset. Thank you, Wayne.

Then, FL played in Fort Wayne at a park. I missed it. I checked out Yoshema Battles the Pink Robots. It bloew my mind. Now, my biggest regret in life is missing that show in the park.

I'm not joking or being sarcastic. I dig some of the FL. With my Son being born and my Mom dying, I can't listen to "Do you realize" wihtout crying.
