Bitdefender free and SLOWing with Reaper

I used to use AVG, & it was fine aside for the occasional upgrade ad. But a couple months back I switched to Bitdefender, which had strong ratings. It was great, but then a few days ago, it did an update which slowed Reaper down. Its like Bitdefender is looking at & approving any saves, loads, whatnot, thru Bitdefender all the sudden. Do a save or change & you could be waiting a 20 to 60+ seconds.
Uninstalled & all is well.
Reinstalled & back at it.
Im either going to either find a way around it or go to another antivirus.

Anyhow, just a heads up to yall if youve noticed any problems on your systems.

BTW, in case it helps anyone to know.. im using Win7, an i5 3570 quad core, 16 gigs ram, Geforce 670.

Ditch the antivirus altogether.....you don't need that crap. Especially on your DAW

If you absolutely must, use Microsoft Security Essentials. It's relatively lightweight

This isnt a PC devoted to music.. I use it for browsing & games, so gotta have an antivirus. It has actually saved my bacon more than once.
I did check pretty thoroughly, & Bitdefender is one of the best at blocking, also very light on resources. Lighter AND stronger than the MS protection, oddly enough..
Why it got all funny with that update, I do not know. But it has fixed itself since, & seems to be working fine again.
Also I found a way to disable protection within the program, in case it ever happens again.

I still think a good hardware firewall and adblocker is a thousand times better than an AV in all aspects, but YMMV
