What's your favorite Neurosis album and why? I chose "Times Of Grace" just because I feel they hit their creative peak with that one, and I also really like "Through Silver In blood". What do you think?

I'm not a Neurosis aficionado at all, but I stumbled across Given to the Rising a few years ago and I really dig that album.

For me it will always be the eye of every storm as that was my first venture into their music. Times of Grace/Grace fights for second along with A Sun That Never Sets.
Whenever I travel anywhere and can make the time I try and find somewhere awesome to sit and listen to it. I was fortunate enough to go to Ascension Island to work for a month through summer and I walked a mile or two down long beach by Georgetown, which is one of the beaches that Green Turtles use to lay their eggs, and I sat in one of the holes they dig and listened to it. It was way past midnight and it was near as damn it a tropical storm and almost pitch black because the cloud cover was extensive. Just as the title track releases after the quiet part ("time brings them all home...) the clouds broke and the light of the moon was blinding on the white volcanic sand, all the while there were huge fucking waves crashing down. It's hard to explain but nature was really in sync with the whole album and it was a truly powerful experience. I was also (again through work) lucky enough to be stationed at the Sphinx Observatory in the Swiss Alps during a total lunar eclipse in 2008. I sat on top of the lab roof with my legs dangling off the side and took it all in to TEOES. This is about 13,000 ft ASL and well above the boundary layer and there is very little in the way of local lighting. We had all the station lights off. It was pretty damn dark, with only the light coming from the far horizon.

Souls At Zero for me. When I lived in Kansas, my roommate had this album. I used to listen to it every night after work.
