Didn't bowl me over, but sure sounds like him in 2 seconds of listening.
Great player. Maybe my headache has me jaded on it.

Never been a favorite. I have always hated his tone, but he is talented. His instrumentals have always been better than his actual songs. Like Robben Ford, much better when just playing, not singing.

Sounds like he butchered Ah Via Musicom!

My mom was just in town and reminded me of the time she took my dad to see Eric Johnson. They sat in the front row, apparently right in front of either his cabinet or the wall of speakers for the house. She said their ears rang for two days and it permanently damaged my dad's hearing. He was probably too stoked to care, lol.

EJ is a phenomenal player, but there is zero creativity or effort in this song IMHO. Very cliche.

I agree. I wanted to post a thread about all the virtuoso guitarists of yesteryear fading fast with total lackluster new music. Satriani's newest releases are absolutely terrible.

This lands in the same zone for me. Absolutely nothing interesting going on here.

I wonder if this is also having an impact on the "dying" guitar industry... :idk:

Maybe yes. But chops intensive playing is just no longer interesting for most listeners. It reached its peak, and some new dudes have carried on to do newer and innovative things, like Tosin Abasi for example, and yet it still falls flat for the average listener.

I think it has something to do with it. But maybe it has to do with kids growing up thinking Imagine Dragons is a rock band.

Always been tons of players that are technically great.
But writing an effective hook that’s memorable and cool ain’t that easy for most.

Instrumentals aren’t really popular music anyway.

For the most part.

I would welcome back disco, at this point.

Disco was the natural evolution of Motown with the help of Cocaine.

Did it suck as bad as Taylor Swift? At least Earth Wind and Fire were badass musicians.

I think at this point, we can be confident no one will ever hear clipless bumper music.

New EC is not very rhythmically interesting, too many of the lines are just straight on the beat.

Original music - you are most likely completely correct.
Complete cover songs - also probably correct.
banging some shit out just to post a f'n clip - there is still a possibility you are wrong...........

1. There is also a possibility that monkeys might come flying out of my ass, and that's at least 10x more likely to happen than you posting a clip.
2. I'm never wrong, just ask my wife.
3. You've had ample opportunity to post a clip of you playing even a single chord, yet at the expense of your GAB posting rights and riling up a mob asking for you to be banned, you've opted not to.

I'm starting to lean into the camp that believes you don't actually even play an instrument. IOW, I remain confident no one will ever hear you play. :bring:

I like EJ just fine he never looks like he is having fun. A buddy of mine summed up the original G3 like this:

Johnson makes guitar look hard.
Vai makes guitar look easy.
Satriani makes guitar look fun.
