New interface day!

After 12 years, my trusty focusrite pro26 io output amp shat the bed..

So for black friday i found a brand new in box saffire pro40 for $199 (!) from a ProAudioStar up in New York.

Cant beat the price and familiar with Focusrite whove been awesome thus far.. so can't complain for a new 8 channel interface to replace the sick old'n.

Congrats. I love the smell of new gear in the morning. Smells like victory.

Bought my M-box Pro used, about 8 years ago... waiting for it to go ass up and day now.

Haha.. yeah ajax.. ive been thinking the focusrite'd die for forever- but recorded and mixed 14 full lengths and mazillions of one offs through it for like 1500 hours of work. I seriously can't complain.

This pro 40 ended up costing half as much as the previous interface too. Should arrive monday or tuesday;

Ha! Yeah- right on. I got my pro26 i/o in 07 and always loved it! Once i got a pro 40 though.. man have they fixed all the bugs! Its better sounding AND less quirky!

Haha- but of course! The pro26 sounded awesome despite its weirdnesses for a long time. And then.. well.. fizzing spittingoutputs on the analog side just never sound awesome unless you dial em that way. I didn't

But hell yeah.. basics never get old!

I'm still using this one that I bought brand new probably a decade ago - I think it was just straight up called a "Focusrite Saffire"

I remember those- i almost bought one first but got a fortuitous deal on an 8 channel on ebay! I suspect its basically the same as my old one as a 2 channel. Rockers!

I'm using a Lavry 4496 I got over 10 years ago , still kicks much ass . It was over 4k new w/ 6 x i/o's .. I got it from a friend but they are still spendy and some nutballs still swear by them over at sluts. I won't be changing ever if I can help it .

Daamn.. thats fancypants! I stay put as long as humanly possible 99% of the time.. gah.. relearning stuff is too time consuming.. id rather be playing!:lol:

it works , I also have a B word ULTRAMATCH PRO which is a killer 2 in w/ pre . I use and swear by Lynx audio AES 16 cards . If you ever need to go with a Analog board or just want a killer card check out Lynx . The B interface is fucking great though for stupid cheap . I'm one of those guys that cannot hear a difference with converters . I can see software runs better and latency is better with a better interface as the drivers are usually better but converters ? can't hear it . But here is the thing , I actually had to build a old tech computer for those cards . I have 2 x Lynx and 2 UAD-1's ( uad guys with laugh at me for that ) and there is only one Mother board company that still uses several PCI slots "Jetway" so I built backwards . That was a few years ago I bet it's almost impossible to find a few PCI slots these days on a MB .
