ITT:
We post albums that are underrated. Subjectivity FTW!
Baroness' Yellow & Green:
"Not metal enough" cry the overcompensating pantywaists. These albums defy simple genrefication, especially Yellow. It rocks, with Baroness' characteristic touches.

No Joe Perry or Brad Whitford = Not Aerosmith

Well, "I don't even consider that a real _______ album" is pretty much the epitome of underrating it.

Edge of Sanity - Crimson

Pretty much the best melodic black & death metal albums ever made. (Well, Storm of the Light's Bane is tough to match, but at least on par with it).

The new KSE. After a few listens I am quite impressed. Easily a 7 or 8 out of 10.

I didn't say it wasn't a real album or whether it was good or not. I'm just saying it's not really an Aerosmith album, like Chinese Democracy is not really a GNR album.

Sorry, the ________ there was meant to be read as a blank, to be filled in this particular case with "Aerosmith."

I got that. But would you consider Chinese Democracy an actual GNR album?

Orbis_Mortis wrote:I got that. But would you consider Chinese Democracy an actual GNR album?
No, but I consider that a more extreme case. Chinese Democracy was separated from GnR's previous release by 15 years, and had exactly one person who had performed on their breakthrough album. It was, by all rights, an Axl solo project featuring a ton of sidemen, some of whom had also been members of Guns n' Roses.
By comparison, Rock in a Hard Place came out more or less right in the normal flow of Aerosmith albums, and 60% of the "classic" lineup was still there.

I think we had this conversation before. Maybe it was here or maybe it was on HCAF.
Either way, Brad Whitford did play on Rock and a Hard Place. He did the rhythm guitars on Lightning Strikes. Listen to the album and read the credits.
