I even left a huge battery replacement job, on which I am lead, to attend. Downtown Minneapolis, across the street from Target Field, where the Twins were playing the A's.

Anyway, the show:
The local talent wasn't bad, but I don't like girls doing metal vocals. Rhythm section was good. Lead singer was pretty, and had an accent. I want to say German.

Prong was energetic, even if the crowd wasn't. I had never heard Prong before, and I'll have to listen to the older stuff.

Sepultura: I have never been a big fan of them, and the live show did nothing to change my opinion. I don't like that style of vocals, except for Chuck Billy, which brings me to...

Testament: I've seen them before, so I knew what to expect. It was a more deep cut/new album set, and it was brilliant. Each member, apart from Chuck Billy, took a solo, between blocks of songs, starting with Alex Skolnick. I've long been a fan of his, mostly for the way he incorporates his other musical endeavours into his Testament work. I was also equally surprised by Eric Peterson, chiefly because I could actually hear him this time. He is no slouch on guitar, either. Then came Gene Hoglan. That man is one of three drummers who can come close to Peart, Lombardo, or Tim Alexander. Last, but certainly not​ least, Steve DiGiorgio. I imagine they want to hear reactions from the audience, but I was beyond the capacity for rational thought, after witnessing what I did. I prefer fretless basses for a reason. So does Steve DiGiorgio. What I didn't like: me. I was lead on a major battery replacement, and I sort of bailed on the boys, never mind the fact that I had scheduled work in Minnesota, explicitly for the purpose of going to a Testament concert in Minneapolis.

I would use a more in-depth, more cohesive sentence structure, but I haven't slept in close to 48 hours.

Alex is one of my favorite metal players. Hogan is to me the greatest death metal drummer out there. He has played with everyone, and then some. Legendary. Did not know Steve was with them currently. Legend. Bet that was a hell of a show and worth it. Sepultura live is pretty legendary as well. NEver seen prong, I kind of liked them back in the day. Sounds like a good time to me.

Steve's bass solo turned into a full-blown song, minus Chuck.

Oh, and there was an Indian there. Another one, not just Chuck. I almost expected Native Blood (from Dark Roots of Earth), but no, it was Rise Up (also from Dark Roots of Earth).

Testament is pretty much the only old school thrash band I still haven't seen (well, at least that I WANT to see) live. I saw Prong back in the day with Voivod and Soundgarden. KILLER show.

...says the guy that has to drive AT LEAST 2 hours to see anything bordering on decent

I saw them earlier on in the tour in Toronto. Got there late and missed Prong, and was really pissed about that because I've never seen Prong. Wasn't expecting much from Sepultura, since Max was that band and if you want to hear newer Sepultura, listen to any Soulfly album from Prophecy onwards. Nothing I've heard from Sepultura since Max left has impressed me at all, and the same goes live. They were OK, but...meh. The last time I saw Testament was back in '89 I think. Practice What you Preach Tour, with Nuclear Assault and Savatage opening, and I'll be honest and say that I don't even remember Testament because Savatage just blew me away. I went to the concert a Testament fan, never having heard Savatage, but they were just so damn good. Anyway, I digress. This time, Testament were great, but honestly, still not memorable. Steve DiGiorgio's bass solo was VERY underwhelming. I really love Steve's playing with Death and Sadus, but his, Hoglan's, and Peterson's solo breaks were all boring as fuck. Now, I will admit that I had a sore back and was probably pretty grouchy due to that, so maybe that explains it. Went to see Mastodon a week later, and that was just mindblowingly epic.

For some reason, Testament tours at times when their fans aren't really in the mood for a concert. If they had played in Minneapolis that Friday, rather than the Wednesday, then that club would have been destroyed.

Ahh.... thats awesome man! I always wanted to see testament. Skolnick has always been one of my favorite metal lead players.
But I hate seeing bands at big venues. Id rather see less popular bands at a cozy venue.

Yeah they are actually the only 2 Prong CD's I like.

The best show I ever saw was Prong, Voivod, and Soundgarden.
