The only time I've seen people use it is to crush it and snort it.
I've actually never tried it properly or abusing it. Supposed to be modern day cocaine, right?

I take it when I have to drive out of state for concerts

But yeah, it's amazing how many people take this stuff.

But as far as being "better" at everything while taking it. I've learned one pretty universal truth with drugs and anything else really. It's never good to be addicted to something. Whether that's because of the physical effects or mental. Once you depend on something, is pretty much beginning a downward turn.
I certainly understand using something to get you thru a stressful time, or to be more productive, but to use it everyday to maintain a level you've become accustomed to while on it will eventually teeter into a negative.

Have a buddy who has a Dr. Feelgood, that provides him with a pocket full of meds; klonopin, adderall and several others of various size and color.
They never helped him make good decisions but, adderall gives a person an alert, energized look... nothing that a bit of acting can't match.
You're better off with coffee.
Yeah, everything in moderation. If you start using everyday, it's a downward spiral that can have serious consequences.

I used to have a prescription for it but it didn't work well for me. But I've been offered blow jobs for Adderall, so some people obviously like it.

Your work may have been done better but the other things, I think were coincidences. You kinda blog your life here and I've followed. The partying era Dave had to come to an end at some point and you have too much to lose to let it end in tragedy. That goes with getting rid of mark leeching. You seem to have found a stable girl and stopped with "the hipster chicks" which just meant band scene groupies.
I think the Adderall is definitely not something to use on the reg and I don't think it improved your life. You did. Don't give that shit too much credit

I'm usually amazed at what total and complete sobriety can accomplish. No alcohol, no weed, regular exercise and good sleep. I should revisit that.
Maybe you should too. Or just do drugs.

My daughter is "high-functioning" Aspergers. She has been on the XR for some time now. For her, I like that it does not kill her kooky personality but does help her tune in for school. Do I wish she was not on meds, of course! However I am also not one of those people that thinks meds are evil.

Dave wrote:... I've also picked up that most successful people are prescribed this drug and seem to thrive on it.
Really? Most successful people? It may be a drug that is overprescribed, but there are a lot of successful people and that would mean a lot of doctors willing to prescribe a medically-unnecessary drug. I'm not sure I believe that generality. Many? Sure. Most? Probably not.
As has been said, relying on anything on a regular basis is the road to trouble. If you need it to function well, you will eventually be without it and, most likely, suffer both mentally and physically. If you're capable with it, then you're capable without it. You just need to find the motivation. Obviously, that's easier said than done...

I'm baffled by people that want to seek out pharmaceuticals to add to their otherwise normal life. FDA forces big pharma to list the drug's side effects in advertisements, which are an extension of the labeling. Usually a 30 second commercial is filled with 15-20 seconds of side effects. That should tell you something about ALL compounded drugs.
But I digress, this is about adderall specifically. Do you have ADHD or narcolepsy? That's what it's indicated for.
Let's say some quack prescribes it for you anyway. Maybe you'll be more alert, or as you say, "successful". Maybe you'll also be shitting yourself, or unable to shit. Your hair may fall out. Your blood pressure may go nuclear and lead to seizures. Maybe you won't be able to sleep and be irritable or anxious all the time. Maybe you'll lose your sex drive, or why not just go completely impotent?
It's ok, they make OTHER DRUGS for all that shit too!

Regarding the side effects, I asked a woman that I used to date about all the shit listed in the commercials. She had multiple nursing degrees, so I assume she knew what she was talking about. As she explained it, the drug makers were required by law to list everything that was reported during the clinical trials, regardless of whether or not they could be definitively attributed to the drug. I'm not trying to minimize your comment on side effects and risks, point taken, but what they list may not necessarily be caused by the drug in question. Sure makes you stop and think, though...

Prescription speed is great for school, long drives, or wanting to get fucked up and beat off for like 4 hours straight.

Success is a combination of: Opportunity, Having the Knowledge/Skills to exploit the Opportunity and finally, the Lack of Competition. Drugs have nothing to do with any of these.
