https://reverb.com/handpicked/free-plugins?page=1Pretty cool, lots of stuff in there. Compressors, bitcrushers, reverb, preamps, apps for iOS, all kinds of shit.

I've played with almost all of these, and the only one I remember liking at all was the "Reverb" branded reverb plugin. That one is seriously awesome for a "one-knob" style reverb. Super cool.
It's the only one that's still in my plugin folder.

Of the ones I've tried...
Boz Bark of Dog is great if you're faced with a recording of an acoustic kit and the kick doesn't have much sub weight to it. You could do the same thing with an EQ, but here's a free plug that distills it down to just the relevant parameters.
Klanghelm's MJUC jr. is just a fraction of the MJUC paid plug, which is one of the best compressor VSTs you can get (and I'm not just saying that... it really is brilliant) and is only like 30 euros. Seriously, can't recommend MJUC enough.
The free Melda stuff I've tried is fine, but something about the interfaces doesn't gel with me. Can't quite put my finger on it. On the other hand, the Loudness meter is a free plug that does instantanious, short term and integrated LUFS, which is handy if you want some perspective when DIY mastering.
