Here's a couple. :)

But rather I'd ask do you have Guitar Pro? Because mapping out the drums in that and then just pressing "export as midi" is so much easier than using piano roll etc. for drum programming.

This for example from that thread works, but you'll need to use your own samples (just google free drum samples) if you want something more realistic sounding:

In that bedroomproducers link there are quite a few freebies if you scroll down far enough. Like this: http://www.meldaproduction.com/MDrummer%20Small

it's not free but IMO ez drummer is a must for anything you want to sound good . There are other vsti's but ez is both cheap and easy and there are many expansions if you run out of ideas .

I would try to buy something like EZ or Addictive BUT if it has to be free I would suggest try using drum samples?

I could be wrong but I think you can program the hits via piano roll, then use a plugin that is built into reaper (can't recall the name right now) to replace those hits with real drums. You would get the real drum sounds from a forum like Andy Sneap forum, there are a ton out there and I am pretty sure this would work.

^You don't even need to program midi if you go that route. You can use any sound file, copy paste it on the track grid for where you want the hits. I think the plug was Reaplacer or smth

Fo sho, I am just so used to piano roll, I couldn't imagine not using it.

You could also get a drum pad and play the hits yourself in real time for faster tracking if you can use the sticks.
