oh man.... Steve does NOT sound good. Such a shame because I LOVE me some GR. Song was good and felt like classic GR but the vocals ain't there.

I forgot you dug them as well Jer. Steve's voice is definitely a little restrained sounding. His tone is ok but the years have taken a toll as they do. The song wasn't as catchy as I expected but I'll give it props for still carrying the torch after all these years.

Thanks for the heads up!
Have you ever listened to Steve's side project GrimmStine? They only put out one album, but it's 3 local dudes and Steve.

he sounds ok in the low registers. he still has great vibrato. My issue is with the song, it literally sounds like its from 1986, even the title to the track. Im just amazed they dont already have a song named Walking in the Shadows.

I'll never listen to that song again.

Hopefully there are some better songs on the album, but probably not.

Marked for listening at work. I dug the heck out of Grimmet when he was in Onslaught. Kind of like Metallica with a power metal singer instead. Which sounds stupid in description but was really awesome in reality.
One of my favorite concerts back in the day was Grim Reaper, Armored Saint, and Helloween on The Keeper of the seven keys tour. It was absolutely Epic.

Didn't care for this trac too much but he sounds way better in this example. How old is this?

On a less glib note, I guess it sounds fine. For me it's just...and I'm sure someone will come and tell me how I have no idea what I'm talking about...Grim Reaper always kinda sucked. Bowcott was/is a really good player, and got good tones. Grimmett had the range and the vibrato, but they just didn't have very many good songs. And lyrically, visually, and musically, they seemed to embody everything that was dorky and embarrassing about 80s power metal.
I was quite happy when they got the Beavis and Butthead treatment.
"Is this Spinal Tap?"
"I think they got their clothes from that rock and roll store at the mall."
"Stop, in the name of all that does not suck!"

I agree with you 100% Ben

That being said I dig a lot of their music in spite of that. Like I would never be proud of digging it

but it was good when I was in the 9th grade

There wasn't anything groundbreaking, progressive (or even good about) them; but they just kind of fit into the NWOBHM classification and it worked for me.

Yeah I think the only album I liked ALMOST all of was Rock You To Hell. Title track, Lust For Freedon, Night of the Vampire, When Heaven Comes Down, Suck It and See...
Lot's of good shit on that album.
