It is rare that I hear a band that makes me go "Holy sheet, what was that????" but in a good way

These guys used to be in Necrophagist. Muhammed disappeared, they carried on.

Oh cool! I didn't know that either. Definitely digging these guys. Good to see they forged ahead.

I LOVE, Necrophagist. Epitaph is top 3 all time for me. Obscure is amazing, with some of that flavor, with their own secret sauce thrown in. Their bass player is just ridiculous. Frighteningly good.

I was unaware they shared band members. Makes sense. Both are sick. Obscura is really awesome though but the new Necrophagist sounds like it's going to be amazing.

The solos on Akroasis are pretty avant garde and sometimes don't seem to fit that well. They also kicked that guy out of the band before they started touring, so there's some sticky stuff going on. They're putting out some great music these days.

If you dig Obscura, check out Beyond Creation. Similar, but Canadian. Equally ridiculous bassist.

That's pretty sick but the fretless bass player that wants to play guitar kind of ruins it for me. Went "just this side" of tasty for me. Band is kick ass overall though.

I heard a clip and it was the best Necrophagist I've ever heard.

Because Necrophagist has not released anything since Epitaph and is done.

Sadly no new Necrophagist. Muhammed just fell off the face of the Earth.

these guys are amazing musicians and create amazing music. When I first heard Anticosmic Overload I was so blown away. That song made me go WOW this is something amazing. great band.

Muhammed is an engineer, so he's probably too senior now to go on tour and got swamped with life. I hope he's still writing ridiculous music.

Did not realize Obscura was a lot of Necrophagist sans Muhammed. Heard of them but hadn't checked them out much. Will have to.

Man, I remember first seeing a vid of Necrophagist thinking "HOLY SHIT".

It would be awesome if Muhammed just dropped a buncha stuff he's been working on in his basement on the internet someday.

Came so close to finally seeing them this year at Graspop. Unfortunately I had to pick between them and Moonsorrow, as they clashed. Ended up going with Moonsorrow.


As far as I know all ex-Necrophagist members have since left Obscura. Completely different lineup these days.
