BTOR 2016 Rules and Discussion Thread

Alright guys let's get this going. These are the rules:

Please post pictures of your rig ready to go, wired up, passing signal. This is not a "gear collection" contest. It's all about the RIG.
Maximum of 2 guitars in the rig picture. For the same reason as above.
Pictures used on previous BOTRs will not be allowed. Please take a new picture for this contest
You can enter multiple categories if you have different rigs. But only one entry per category is allowed. For example if you have a combo and a 1/2 stack you can enter both categories. If you have 2 half-stacks, pick your best one and enter once in that category.
The post threads will be open until Saturday July 30th 12PM PST. After that point I will lock the post threads and create voting polls.
Voting starts on the 30th and goes until Wednesday August 3rd. 5 days should be enough for voting.
The winners of each category will then compete for "Best Overall Rig of 2016" From August 5th to the 10th.

We have prizes!!

Each category winner is getting a pack of Dunlop 10's.

Update: Overall winner will get a custom PLX FX pedal, with your choice of one of PLX circuits that fit in the 1590B enclosure and custom GAB graphics!!

Please support PLX FX at https://www.facebook.com/plxfx

Contest is open to all GAB members with 10 posts or more.
Creating alts for voting purposes will automatically disqualify you, not to mention you will also get some days off.
Inviting new members to join and vote is not only allowed, it is encouraged! Help spread the word about GAB.

Finally, please try to keep the post threads for gear pictures only and take all the discussion to this thread. That will keep things easier.

Thanks!!!!!!!!

Billy

so if you are entering a pedalboard category - you just need a picture of your pedalboard, right?

If you win a category - can you then enter a new picture that shows your whole rig for the final competition?

your winning picture goes to the finals. If you want to, you can enter the pedalboard and a whole rig (combo or 1/2 stack) simultaneously.

Great, thanks for taking the effort! Looking forward to see all the entries.

I'd be in if I would know where to place my new rig with a 19'' headshell hosting a rackmount mini recto-verb :idk:

As there is no rack category l should probably use the head cab category, or?

Sounds cool. The rules all make sense and should make for little fuckery and complaining. Just note the small edit.

I just noticed my silly comment in one of the threads got deleted. Then I remembered that meant work for Billy. Then I remembered that we don't post stupid comments in the actual contest threads.

Then I found my weed.

Sorry Billy.

There were some epic scores since the last contest in 2015. This year's contest is going to be a good one!!!

and Vernon Reid plays fly gigs with this but he wouldn't qualify either

let's follow the rules. They will never be perfect and they're not meant to be, just having some fun here :)

Only talking shit because you called it fly rig, small pedalboard category makes sense though vs large board (but a pt2 isn't a large board), granted. But:

1. That's not their fly rig.
2. That's not even Vernon's rig that's Doug's *bass* pedalboard.

Are you doing any prizes? I'll donate a pedal or two for some of the winners.

That's it, I'm entering.

Just strictly as a feather in the cap of GAB, you understand: my rig is fucking godly by the standards of the average amateur player, yet I will be able to point to this contest and say, "See my sweet setup? Yeah, that's right; didn't even crack the top 10 in its category. That's how fucking boss my forum is."

Just go ahead and delete the posts where they are creating a place to put a picture later.

Mark G has a WIIO on his small pedal board... that may be enough to get my vote. :rawk:

I dunno... I realize that it make things easier but, commenting on a separate thread isn't as much fun.

The budget rig category...how will the gear be valued? Current value or what we paid for it?
