Makes me want to play my guitar more. Crazy, I know!

Spent the last 2 weeks focusing on technique and building speed, you know, actually practicing instead of just noodling around.

Wow, the difference it makes to actually focus my practice.

Its been fun because not only am I doing the exercises faster, but I've been able to delve into some songs and actually start learning them.

My problem is that I'm neurotic, I'm pretty sure some of you can relate. If I can't make something sound decent I don't even want to try. Stupid? Oh hell yes.

But I'm hitting a stage where I can look at a tab and visualize what I need to do to make the tab sound like the song.

Today I started messing around with "Mississippi Queen" by Mountain. Yeah, its not tech death or jazz, but playing that intro riff and making it sound 80% right at 90% speed......pretty cool in my book.

Its great, I'm actually CRAVING playing my guitar. I don't hate how I sound right now. Sure, I'm not very good, but I'm good enough that I want to work to get better, not where I'm so bad that I don't even want to play.

I have moved ALL of my gear to my new place EXCEPT my tele and plexi. It's so nice not having to mess with pedals for a couple days while we finish moving. Tele into Plexi is straight up rock and roll.

Glad you're nailing down some good practice techniques. I'm too unfocused in my guitar wankery to do anything more solid.

Well, you must remember, this is all very relative. I'm never going to be disciplined enough to be roaring out Dying Fetus or anything. But yeah, my goal this year was 5 hours actual PRACTICE a week, technique, learning songs, whatever, but focused on SOMETHING besides pointless noodling that doesn't increase my ability.

It's glad to have a semi-readable forum again. I haven't posted on HCAF in like 3 weeks because of interim and I just couldn't get on it. What a joke that place is.

Also, congrats to yourself on getting 61 posts already. I think you're only four short of Guitarbilly at the moment.

Go up to the top of your screen and hit "Members"...then click the "Post" column to sort by post count......

Now proceed to see people compete with who can have the most posts
