About to record drums. Questions about rooms....

So I'm starting up my DIY recording of my doom project. Drumset is newly skinned, and all the pre-production is ready to go... Heres an idea of what I've done so far;
Setup all the time sigs and tempo changes in the songs
Recorded a scratch guitar track for the drummer to play along with
While it doesn't seem like much, mapping out the songs took a fucking while. Two out of the three songs we're set to record are over 10 minutes, and each one has atleast 4 time sigs, and at least a couple tempo changes. ANYWAY....
So now I'm kind of torn as to where I should record the drums. Two things I'm taking into account; room differences and setting up. The drums are currently set up in my basement, which is where I was initially planning on recording them. The other option is to bring them up stairs and track them in either my computer room, or the bedroom adjoining the computer room.
FIrst off, moving the drum set will be much easier than moving my recording setup, MUCH EASIER. But, the bedroom and/or computer room upstairs are much smaller than my basement. The upstairs rooms are about 12'x12' with hardwood floors and regular sheet rock walls. The basement is about 15'x30', with carpet floors, sheetrock walls and a suspended ceiling.
Which room do you guys think would work better for recording? If I record upstairs, I could use the one room for the drums, and the other as a "control room" of sorts, but it won't really benefit anything, because my walls are all paper thin. It would make it easier to bring the drum set upstairs, but would the smaller room "confine" or "deaden" the recording more so than the larger basement?
Any insights, and feel free to throw in anything else you think I should do before I get down to the nitty gritty... THANKS!
