Anyone heard/tried anything from these guys? I have seen their name pop up a lot recently when looking into mic pre's. Seem to be pretty well regarded and their prices are pretty good if the quality is there.

A little smaller than 500 series designs

No idea, but I am interested as well. I need a good mic pre.

They sell them as kits or fully assembled. The pre's range from $250 - $500. The chassis holds up to 8 modules. I heard a LOT of good stuff about them on GearSlutz.com and those guys seem as picky as TGP folks.

Jer - I'm not sure about that price - it looks to me like the chassis is $499 on it's own and then you have to add modules that price out around $300+ each (as kits - have to be assembled). They have SKUs for 'installed modules', but they all price at the same $499, including the empty one.

Yup. The price I put was just for modules. Not the whole kit up too. I see now why it came across that way. Still a bit cheaper than some of the 500 series chassis that hold fewer units.

Does anyone else make modules for that device? I think I would be more prone to get a 500 series chassis since there are soooo many vendors that make a module for the 500 series.

I don't know about the sound quality, I just worry about its ability to compete in the future. Like the module based Randall amps; these sounded great and was novel idea, but in the end it really didn't take off. I think trying to make a smaller version of something that is already out there [and is widely accepted and used] would make me a bit worried. Granted if I was rich, I probably wouldn't care, and just get the unit anyway :D

They do offer lots of modules for it... :hmm:
