Looking to expand my playing styles. Thinking I' gonna start off with some of Randy's stuff and then possibly explore the world of Jake E Lee. Any other suggestions?

EVH

and laugh, but I've always liked Autograph (one hit wonder that did "Turn Up The Radio" ). They had some decent stuff going on.

another laugh, but check out some of Loverboy's guitar work. Some tasty stuff in there as well, just masked by cheese. Excellent player.

The solo from Skid Row's "I remember you" is the very first solo I ever learned to play on guitar. It contains one of the greatest pinch harmonics ever recorded  :D

But besides that, it's a sweet solo and pretty easy to play.

Scotti Hill was the man....but it kills me to hear the shit they are releasing these days :freak:

Never seen that Loomis vid before. Not at all surprised by it though. Loomis is obviously a huge fan a Becker and has insane chops. Bastard-ass motherphucker.

for "must know" I'd say it would be:

Rhoads - Mr Crowley/Crazy Train

Lee -Bark at the Moon

Campbell - Holy Diver

EVH- Eruption/Hot For Teacher

Yngwie - You don't remember, I will never forget / Far Beyond the Sun (if you can - at least the main parts)

Sykes - Still of the night

Vai - For the Love of God

Satch - Always with You, Always with Me and maybe Summer Song

GNR - something off appetite for destruction .. Sweet Child o Mine?

And also a few Priest, Maiden and Metallica solos...

some of this stuff is late 70's (eruption) and early 90's (Vai) but still... this is bare minimum to say you know how to play 80's rock IMHO.

Agreed. Paul Dean is definitely responsible for at least a little bit of my style.

Hell yeah.

I was playing around with an auto wah, and an octavia one night & was dicking with the intro to "When Its Over" . I kept playing this thing & was asking mysself "What the fuck is that??" then I realized what it was lol.

Ive stolen stuff outta "Turn Me Loose" for my own stuff. I'm a shameless thief, when it comes to licks & riffs. If I can use it, I'll use it ..no matter where the source

George Lynch (Dokken) - too many to pick just one, but In My Dreams & Alone Again are my favorites
Vito Bratta (white Lion) - Wait
Brad Gillis/Jeff Watson (Night Ranger) - Don't Tell me You love Me & You Can Still Rock in America
Dave Meniketti (Y&T) - Black Tiger
