Mic Case

I was getting tired of stepping over mics in my living room. So, I ran by Harbor Freight and looked to see what sort of cases they had laying around. As it turns out...

The foam was pre-cut into 1cm squares. You just remove the ones you don't want. It also came with some dividers for the case. I used them on the sides to put
some more pressure on the foam. That made it grab the mics a bit better. Not bad for $30. I could have laid things out a little better. But, it turned out ok, as is.

Thanks! I really dig MXL for the budget. I picked all but 1 from SDotD's. I upgraded the V67 with a 34mm capsule. So, it's a true LDC now. Likewise, I upgraded one of the 550's with a 34mm capsule and the MP-V57 kit from microphone-parts.com. I've really been pleased with it. I just picked up the ribbon. Mixed with the modded 550, it sounds really good with my girlfriend's flute. I haven't had a chance to mic any guitars with it, yet.

I just checked out the MXL web site. They have ridiculous prices!
I'm going to have to pick up a MXL R144 Ribbon Mic... never owned a ribbon mic before because, I always thought they were too fragile.
For $85.00, what the heck!

Apparently, the R40 is the same as the R144... something about competing products having the R40 name. Guitar center has a few R144's for under $50 at the moment.

Cheers! Just ordered the $50 one. Comes with a case and shock mount.
Doing an in store pick up in case the mic is covered with dry spit
