I was looking at real reel to reel machines yesterday and although i'd like to get them... it's just another thing to learn and a pain in the ass.

So i got these two UAD 2's instead:

Ampex® ATR-102 Mastering Tape Recorder Plug-In



Studer® A800 Multichannel Tape Recorder Plug-In



Gonna take some learning but the presets are pretty great as is so just going to start there.

Anyone else use something similar? How do you like it?

I love Slate VTM for saturation. I dig it for just about everything, but bass, kick mics, tom mics, overheads (and hi hat mics), and guitar buses are my favorite uses.

I'd love to, mang! Although I still feel like I've barely scratched the tip of the iceberg. I've been into recording for 10 years now and I still feel like a n00b.

Before and after clips with the mastering plug in would be cool if ya get around to it.

Yeah i did one last night and it definitely made a positive difference but i want to try out some more of the presets first. I'll post a before and after here when i get one done.
