Installing a headset jack

I have an old Peavey TKO amp and would like to install a headphones jack that turns off the speakers when the headphones are plugged in. I live in a quiet neighborhood. Can this be done and, if so, what type of jack is needed?

Short answer - no, not easily.
It wouldn't be too tough to install a jack to run an external cabinet, that shut off the internal speaker - a typical shorting jack could accomplish that. But a set of headphones won't take that much power. You would have to tap into the preamp section (which wouldn't have enough power or the correct impedance to drive headphones) and rig a small power amp to push the headphones.
