Right... well I am officially stressed with Cubase 6. I was able to record audio, then I couldn't even import audio, and now I can't record either. I can't tell what is wrong everything SEEMS to be set correctly  haha at my wits end! Considering downloading reaper, but what is the point it is possible I'll have the same problem...

Hardware issues? Have you tried listening to a music file without the daw?

Boo. Sounds like hardware and not Cubase.

Hardware is working fine... getting sound and signal from it on it's root program (that I have tried both on AND off whilst using cubase). Again, I had it working with cubase and now it isn't.

:idk: which one is it? That's kinda confusing lol

So if you turn on your computer and open up a sound file, does it play? Leave Cubase out of the equation here for a min

Yeah it plays, then when the interface it sound files won't play through the laptop (obviously), but they don't through the interface either. But, I am still getting signal through the interface in the program it came with, and when I check audio devices in control pannel there IS signal. Very confusing :idk:

That is weird. What kind of interface are you using, and what OS? If you're using the driver that came with the DAW, maybe try ASIO4ALL instead?

Ahh I need to get a decent interface... I'm using a VERY crappy Line 6 UX1 or something. I want to get the Akai EIE PRO.
