Hey,
I decided to go with a macbook central recording system. I purchased a Presonus Firestudio and Logic. So far I really like it. Logic is really intuitive.

I was using a home made PC with and Echoaudio Layla 24/96 and Cubase Studio 4. I'll be putting the Layla and my Alesis Stuio24 in the spam area in the next couple days!
