Does anybody have experience with the Carl Martin Compressor? I have a 4 knob Keeley Compressor and although I really dig it I would like something a little bit more transparent. I'm wondering if a Carl Martin would be good for consideration.

I thought the Keeley was supposed to be one of the more transparent compressors on the market?

Maybe try the Analogman compressor.

you know they've "said" that but it's not really true. it audibly effects the highs, which might have something to do with the nature of compression :idk:

I love my Ego Compressor!! Very transparent. But I've been wanting to try the Xotic SP comp!

I'm also considering the xotic but it like the Keeley is based on the Ross compressor. Their take on that circuit is going to be different for sure though so it's definitely on my list of compressors to try out. Xotic makes the BB preamp  which is my favorite OD of all time.

Yeah, compression by nature is gonna squash your treble. Maybe check out the Pigtronix compressors (Philosopher's Tone, etc) because they have a knob that allows you to blend the mix of your original tone and the compression :thu:

What Devin says is true. The Ego comp, SP, Bearfoot comps, and a few others have the blend knob. Whic leads to why I like the Ego. Tone and blend to help out with that!

I need to try that Ego. It does look like it has the tailoring I'm looking for.
