All I read there is about how amps are too heavy. Guitars are too heavy.

If they have a 79 Startocaster like the one I cut my teth on, It's understandable. Ive played boat anchor Les Pauls that weighed less than she does lol.

I'd rather lugh one of my 100 watt heads & a 4x12 around, than my Broe's A,peg VT60 Triaxis Ampeg 1x12 combo around. That thing's a heavy bastard (but sounds KILLER)

I like light guitars , amp weight I could care less , as long as I'm not wearing it around my neck .

I don't take weight into consideration for anything gear related?

If it plays and sounds good, I'm all for it.

I tend not to complain or have it be a deciding factor.

After playing bass for a few years in a band that toured..........basses are heavier than guitars for the most part. The cabs are much larger than guitar cabs, and sometimes heavier.

Until you've worn a heavy bass all night, and tried to deal with an 8x10 or 2x15 yourself.......guitar stuff is a cake walk.

osteoporosis, dowagers hump, and rheumatism - need light gear.

I seem to go in cycles, oscillating between practicality and nutz. I actually just got a 4x12 last month after 7+ years of not owning one. The Mark III currently sitting on top of it started out as a combo.

I admit one of the things that attracted me to SGs is how ridiculously light weight and comfortable they are. I don't mind playing heavy guitars but there is something to be said about playing something as light as a SG.

As for amps and cabs, I just don't care at all.

I've gotten extremely accustomed to playing a really lightweight guitar, so I definitely notice having something more weighty hanging around my neck for a coupla hours. It doesn't really influence my decisions about buying stuff though. If there is a guitar that I like that happens to be lightweight, then it's just a bonus.

Played a '70s Strat for a long time, didn't realise how heavy it was until I bought one of the new Am Stds in the late '80s. They were light compared to the older Strat, couldn't get used to them at all.

Then when I got a Les Paul in 1990 it made the old Strat seem light in comparison. Guess it's all relative. I only started weighing guitars in the last couple of years, the Les Paul is 10lbs. Still have never weighed that Strat and I have it since '84.

TGP is elderly, weight is a huge deal to them.

They don't want to admit to being old and lazy though, so they go on long winded rants to justify their actions about how heavy gear is bad in this day and age.

i loved my heavy agile until i got my starla. the starla has much better tone and weighs much less. now i play the agile and still love it but def feel the increased weight.

cant do 112 combos though, seems to be all people want over there or a 5w head with a 112 cab. def not old enough for that yet. my 412s sound too fucking good.

whatever. its playing guitar. just do what is fun for you. i cant make fun if you hurt your back and still want to have fun playing an instrument.

I don't care about guitar weight whatsoever; however, I will definitely complain about the weight of my MKIV with an EV-12L in its roadcase. I would much rather move around my old JMP and 1960A than the Mesa.

I used to love heavy guitars but after playing in the cover band for a while I started to appreciate lightweight gear.

When you're playing 3 gigs a weekend all with 3-4 sets it becomes unnecessary to schlep a 4x12 and play a 12lb Les Paul all night.

All about having the right gear for the right application. I brought out the small fender 2x12 for those shows.

The least amount of gear to get the job done -- words to gig by.

I typically don't care but my more recent guitar has been my lightest and I do like that fact.

I'm middle aged and do appreciate lighter weight/smaller size gear, but I'll admit it's only because it's easier to move/transport or in the case of lighter guitars less strain for extended time periods standing up not because of tone. Some guitars that sound killer happen to be lighter weight which is a bonus, some of my best sounding guitars are on the heavier side though.

I have a 2x12 I keep for mobil purposes but when I'm home I'm using the 4x12 full stack, which probably sounds ass backwards to some lol.

Hey, I'm all about weight. I'm on the lookout right now for some lightweight stuff. You guys can keep the heavy stuff, I'll take lighter every time.
